Yo, let’s dive back into the Fender Super Champ X2, ‘cause this little amp is straight-up awesome! It’s the perfect vibe for jamming at home, practicing, or tracking some sweet tones in your bedroom studio.
Released in 2012, this bad boy packs 15 watts of pure tube magic through a 10″ Fender Special Design speaker, driven by a 12AX7 preamp tube and two 6V6 output tubes. Those tubes give it that classic Fender warmth, with clean tones that sparkle and overdrive that’s got some serious grit. It’s like a mini time machine for your ears, blending vintage soul with modern tricks.
Right out of the box, it’s got a dual-channel setup—Channel 1 for those pristine cleans, and Channel 2 for everything from subtle crunch to full-on distortion. The voicing knob is the real MVP, letting you pick from 16 amp models like Tweed, Blackface, British, or even metal vibes. Plus, it’s loaded with 15 digital effects (reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo, you name it), and you can tweak ‘em with the effects level control.
The tap tempo button is clutch for nailing delay timing on the fly. No messing around needed—it sounds killer from the get-go, but you can plug it into your computer via USB and play around with the Fender FUSE software for next-level fun.
Speaking of FUSE, it’s a free download from Fender’s site that lets you geek out on your amp’s settings. You can fine-tune those 16 voicings, tweak effect parameters like delay time or reverb decay, and even save presets for instant recall.
Wanna swap tones with other players? The FUSE community lets you download and share presets online. For recording, the USB output gives you speaker-emulated digital sound that slides right into your DAW.
Built in Ensenada, Mexico, this 24-pound combo (17.5″ W x 15″ H x 9.2″ D) also has a 1/4″ line out, external speaker jack (8-ohm minimum), and optional footswitch for channel switching. If you’re in Australia, hit up Rock Garage in Ferntree Gully, VIC—they let me demo this beast, and it was love at first riff. Check out the video I mentioned to hear those sweet tones for yourself! Whether you’re just starting out or a tone-chasing pro, the Super Champ X2’s got the goods to keep you stoked.
